Second year in a row agency gets six IABC GOLD QUILL AWARDS

Two projects of the agency SPN Communications were awarded with six international IABC Gold Quill Awards 2015. For the first time in the history of the industry Russian agency second time in row gets six Gold Quills at once. 

 One of the most prestigious industry competitions in the world awarded the following campaigns: One Country - One Team, project implemented by SPN Communications for the Council of Assistance of the Russian Olympic Committee within the scope of Winter Olympic Games 2014 in Sochi and the project Communication Laboratory for the Russian Venture Company/  

Gold Quill is awarded by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). Annually thousands of experts from all over the world participate in the competition.  

Communication Laboratory became the first Russian project in the history of the award that won in five nominations at once: Research for External Communications, Public Communications, Digital Communication Channels, the only winner in Educational Programs in External Communications and the only holder of merit award in nomination Communication for Protection of Interests.  

The educational-networking project Communication Laboratory was launched by the Russian Venture Company and SPN Communications with the purpose to overcome the information span between the Russian science community and mass media, to encourage their efficient communication with each other and finally to bring up in Russia the new class of specialists - science communicators. In 2014 the project united over 460 participants from all over Russia. The scope of this project included: 25 educating and discussion events for scientists and journalists, 12 press-tours to research organisations, published collection of practices Formula of Scientific PR, for the first time press-secretaries of the science and research organisations were awarded with the industry award, launched experimental service for exchanging science news Open Science. Major achievement of this project may be considered the qualitative changes in covering the news of the Russian science in mass media and in communication practices used by science and research institutions.  

Jury called the Communication Laboratory one of the best projects ever presented at Gold Quill. Juries marked the scale and profoundness of the study of science communications that laid in the cornerstone of the project together with the innovative strategy - involvement of science and research community in order to work out the solution to the problem together.  

'We were honoured to evaluate such well-developed project. We would really like to know how this project will be developing further on, and we see that it can really change the way science and research communications work in Russia.' - wrote international experts in their comments to the application.  

Project One Country - One Team got the award Gold Quill in the nomination Programs Implemented by State Institutions. The all-Russian campaign was carried out in anticipation of Winter Olympics in Sochi aiming at introducing sport fans to the huge Russian Olympic national team and winter sports, at uniting the country into one big team supporting Olympic athletes. SPN Communications arranged the personal PR-assistance to each of 500 candidates to the national team and developed the first in Russia daily Internet-journal about Olympic athletes. In October-December along with the Olympic Torch Relay the road-show the House of Russian National Olympic Team (the House) was arranged in 17 regions of the country; Russian people got a chance to come with a visit to athletes' house.. While during the Olympics the Olympic park in Sochi hosted the House of sport fans of the Russian Olympic national team. Visitors of the house could experience the life of sportsmen with the help of 144 interactive exhibits that included the real sports equipment belonging to Soviet and Russian champions. Major decoration of the House was the exhibition of Winter Olympics torches from the collection starting from year 1954while the heart of the House was the club zone that hosted talk-shows with the athletes and guests, sports competition broadcasts and broadcasts of award ceremonies of Sochi Winter Olympics winners. Events of the project have been visited by over half a million people (the House of sport fans was recognized the most popular object of the Olympic Park). By the end of the campaign 17,000 publications were published and the slogan 'One Country - One Team' was in everyone's mouth: sportsmen, state officials and thousands of Russians.  

'For the team of the agency and for entire industry the result of the last year when Russian projects were awarded with six prizes at once at such complicated and comprehensive contest was the professional triumph: we proved that Russian agencies are capable of implementing communication projects of the world level, - says Andrey Barannikov, General Director of SPN Communications and Chairman of ICCO. - At the same time we set a very high standard (first of all for us personally), and yet this year we have achieved to prove our success.  What I am especially excited about is that the list of winners of Gold Quill 2015 includes new Russian companies: the more colleagues are participating in international contests the more our communicators will be recognized at the world market, the more professional our industry will be.'  

IABC Gold Quill 2015 Award Ceremony will take place on 15 June in San Francisco at the IABC World Conference.
